Captain Crunch to cereal is who I want to be to writing!
Writing has always been something I like to do. I just never understood what good writing was. As I grew older I've noticed writing is all about capturing peoples attention and connecting with the readers. So I knew I needed to turn my writing from Kix cereal in to Captain Crunch cereal! I have writen things that were more boring than Kix cereal. No one cared to finish reading it like they didn't want another bite of Kix. I've had times where my writing was like lucky charms. It wanted to taste good, but it just wan't good enough. After writing many pieces that I just didn't wan any more of, I have been working on making my writing as amazing as Captain Crunch.
I have tried many cereals that where the first bite was alright, but towards the end it would all get soggy and not so appetizing. My writings would be the same way. I would start out strong and organized, but it would eventually fall apart and loose it's central idea. The details would be there, but they just weren't yummy enough to fit what needed to be said. This past year I think I have really stepped up a brand in my writing just by learning how to keep it organized and in full effect from beginning to end. It's less like Fruity-Pebbles and more like Honey Graham O's!
Like I said, many of my writings have been like Lucky Charms. My writings would have delicous, sugar-like details, but they just weren't powerful enough to overcome the plain taste of my tone and the dullness of my voice. There would be very little change from how I explained one thing to the next. It would all end up with the same dull tasting scentences. This past year in English I have been opened up to how to have more of a strong tone and a persausive voice. All of that together with the sugar-like details have an amazing outcome. Like how Captain Crunch has the many flavored, sugary, persausive round piece details along with sweet, delicious information.
My scentence writing has always been pretty good. It's putting them together in the right spoonfull that I had a problem with. I would have a spoon full of all the marshmellows in one paragraph and then a spoon full of the pieces that are nasty and no body wants. I've learned how to spice up each paragraph just right with the perfect amount of milk. Punctuation is something I have always had trouble with. My comas and hyphens and slashes, etc. just would never go where they were suppose too. It's like eating cereal with a fork. You have no clue what you're trying to read and the spaces in the fork are leaving messes from the milk everywhere. But this past year in English 10 I have learned more about punctuation than I have in a long while. I feel more confident as a writer knowing where to put what and when to put it.
